TOP 6: Art Galleries in Paris
An art gallery will never replace a museum. But if I need a taste of art and don’t necessarily have a good couple of hours, I head to one of my favourite galleries.
Here’s my top 6 among the contemporary art galleries in Paris, that never disappoint me!
1. Danysz Gallery
A visit to Danysz gallery is always like a walk through another level of reality.
Each artistic choice they make will fulfil the needs of the most demanding art lover. Whether you’re looking for street art, sculpture or digital art – you’ll get it in the most original form!
What’s more, Magda Danysz – the owner of the gallery – has a unique ability to explore and promote the most talented and emerging artists.
address: 78 Rue Amelot, 75011 Paris
openings: openings: openings: Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 – 19:00 (closed on Mondays and Sundays)
2. Perrotin Gallery
Hidden in a charming, Parisian courtyard and within just a few minutes walk from the Danysz Gallery, you stumble upon the Perrotin.
It is yet another fantastic contemporary art space that curated such artists as Takashi Murakami, Terry Richardson or Paola Pivi.
Expect a lot of colour and a good sense of humour!
address: 76 Rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris
openings: openings: Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 – 19:00 (closed on Mondays and Sundays)
3. Thaddaeus Ropac Gallery Paris Marais
My third favourite gallery in the Marais neighbourhood.
Entering into the main and immense room leaves me always with goosebumps!
There is something pure and sumptuous about it that it accentuates the artworks even more. And not to mention the artistic choices – always on point!
address: 7 Rue Debelleyme, 75003 Paris
openings: openings: openings: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 – 19:00 (closed on Mondays and Sundays)
4. Mathgoth Gallery
We’re changing the Parisian districts and heading to the 13th to visit three last galleries 🙂
And it’s not by accident that they are located in the area where the murals are a part of the landscape.
Starting with Mathgoth, that in its four walls has already welcomed such urban art gurus as Bordalo II or Herakut.
They have always surprised me with their expo choices, and I can’t wait for the next one!
address: 34 Rue Hélène Brion, 75013 Paris
openings: Wednesday – Saturday 14:00 – 19:00 (closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays)
5. GCA Gallery
The second gallery is another urban and graffiti art aesthetic heaven. Promoting young and emerging artists, GCA gives its visitors and buyers a glimpse of what’s best in the street art world.
address: 2 Place Farhat Hached, 75013 Paris
openings: Tuesday – Saturday 11:30 – 18:30 (closed on Mondays and Sundays)
6. Itinerrance Gallery
I was hesitating whether I should add it or not since I had an occasion to visit it once only. But taking into consideration that it was the Add Fuel exhibition and that this raw space of the gallery has promoted already the likes of INTI, D*Face or Sainer, I have absolutely zero doubts that I’ll be back regularly!
And do you want a spoiler? Next one on the list is Shepard Fairey‘s retrospective expo! It speaks for itself, doesn’t it!
address: 24 Boulevard du Général d’Armée Jean Simon, 75013 Paris
openings: Tuesday – Saturday 12:00 – 19:00 (closed on Mondays and Sundays)
